KY100 Polar expedition yacht, ready to be built

Green Yard revitalizes the Kleven name for its very first own yacht design – an all-season expedition yacht developed for everything from classic yachting waters to the most demanding polar regions.

KLEVEN YACHTS by Green Yard has introduced the KY100, a 100-meter Polar Class expedition yacht for worldwide, all-season cruising. For an owner it means no compromise: the most striking yacht in the bay, and the capability to head north into the ice.

This is not a design exercise. The KY100 is based on a proven hull form and technical platform, with a developed General Arrangement, technical specification, makers list and construction methodology, developed by Green Yard Kleven with Opalinski Design House and HAV Design. At 100 meters overall and 18 meters beam, she is designed to Polar Class PC5 with a service speed of 18 knots.

Designed by Norway. Built for the world.

The exterior takes its inspiration from the Norwegian landscape – mountains rising from the sea, glaciers, ice and the dramatic lines of the fjords. At the bow, a fully glazed 270-degree Polar Panorama Lounge places guests directly inside the landscape.

An integrated helicopter hangar enables reliable operations in remote regions, large enclosed tender and equipment areas carry the owner’s expedition program, and a large beach club and infinity pool frame life close to the sea. Within the parameters of the platform, the General Arrangement, interior and guest experience are developed together with the owner.

Built responsibly

The KY100 runs on hybrid battery propulsion with a silent mode that lets her lie at anchor with the generators shut down – no noise, no vibration, no emissions. Sewage treatment and exhaust cleaning are fitted as standard, and methanol dual-fuel engines are available as an option. She is built in Norway under Norwegian standards for working conditions, environment and governance.

“This is not just a nice picture on a screen, but a complete and reliable yacht platform combined with a fantastic look, ready to be built. We know how to build large, complex vessels for demanding operations, and KY100 is our first statement that Kleven is ready to do it again,” says Hans Jørgen Fedog, CEO of Green Yard Group.

“She is, in my opinion, the most beautiful expedition yacht in the world – but she is also built on a platform that has already proven itself in the harshest waters on earth. There is a real appetite for yachts that can go further and do more without losing what makes a yacht special,” says Sigvald Haakonsholm, Sales Manager, KLEVEN YACHTS by Green Yard.

A proven expedition heritage

Green Yard Kleven in Ulsteinvik has close to a century of shipbuilding history, with a track record that includes the expedition yachts Ulysses and Andromeda and the polar expedition cruise vessels Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen for Hurtigruten.

The KY100 is available for order, with a build slot available and a favorable delivery time. Full technical specifications and commercial information are available to qualified clients and their representatives on request.
